As the NBA season tips off, UCLA Health is continuing their #TeamLA campaign as part of their partnership with the defending champion Lakers. The campaign encourages fans to tag #TeamLA on posts about wearing a mask, donating or spotlighting the healthcare workers on the front lines of fighting COVID-19.
1) We love the graphic integration on the Lakers website, promoting the use of a mask to get everyone back together in the building - sports fans are dying to be back watching events live, so UCLA Health was able to utitlize a worthy call-to-action to get some brand recognition. UCLA also created a fantastic landing page promoting the partnership and best practices.
2) This works especially well in a city like LA, but getting celebrities behind the campaign organically was a very savvy way to exponentially increase the reach.
3) It appears UCLA Health utilized their partnerships with the Dodgers and Lakers (good year to integrate with both) as a launching pad for this campaign. If the budget allowed, creating a truly united campaign that spread across other professional organizations added interesting scale to this promotion.
